An Exceptional Hound: The Audiobook. After several months of planning and production, the audiobook version of An Exceptional Hound: Book II of the Ryland Creek Saga (AEH) is complete and available for purchase on Audible. (See details below.) The wonderfully talented Wayne Thompson returns as the narrator for this, the second book in the Ryland Creek saga to go into audio format. I can say emphatically the creativity when collaborating with a professional voice actor to create an audiobook is second only to creating the novel itself. In post production of AEH, Wayne and I were discussing the way ahead--the timing and conditions of the next audiobook project, which will likely be The Forest Ghost: A Ryland Creek Novel. Without prompt, Wayne waxed a bit sentimental, looking at the road behind. It's okay to look back every now and again. You may gain perspective and sometimes even a sincere appreciation. Here are Wayne's thoughts: "Before I sign off on this little note, I want to say something personal to you. I auditioned for TLCH [The Last Coon Hunter] specifically because the audition scene was wholesome, gentle, and beautifully written. Young love burst through the page, and the charm and tenderness with which you told the tale made me unable not to read the script in hopes that I might do it some justice. My great hope is still that I have done your exceptional work justice. Your tales are far more than homespun yarns, they are very deep and endearing lessons on and about life, both its simple joys and gut-wrenching sorrows. You are a master! I am honored to have read them . . ." As he did in TLCH, Wayne owned all the roles he played in AEH, and especially nailed Nathan Ernst (again) and (of course) Uncle Arthur McCutcheon. I hope you enjoy the listen. Both audio versions of The Last Coon Hunter and An Exceptional Hound are available at: Ryland Creek Saga on Audible. Flash Sale on Print Books from September 26-October 2, 2023. Realizing not everyone is into audiobooks, I'm having a flash sale on my author website--30% off all print books and complete sets. Why a flash sale now? Answer: Gratitude. The year 2023 started off sort of rough for the family, with our mother suffering a serious injury, but through God's grace, we're pulling through and on the road to recovery. On a much brighter note, we continue to pray for the safe arrival of our first grandchild (I'm betting it's a girl, who's with me?) with our daughter, Samantha Lynn, and her husband, Luke, this November! And (as most of you on this email know) my hound, Seth, with our guest hound, Annie, became parents (first time for both) with a new set of coonhound pups. So, with life being good, I thought I'd share. Please note: While some print formats may go on backorder (i.e., on-hand inventory of large print edition and casebounds are limited at the moment), I will honor these prices and get your order to you soonest. Here's the link to the print book sale on this website: Print Book Sale. Very Respectfully, Joseph Gary Crance
