It would seem that writing is in our family's genes.
A poem, written over a century ago, from an ancestor, Mrs. Emma Crance, whom I never had the pleasure to meet.
It's June! Time's flying, so I wanted to remind you that my first author contest is coming due to win a hard cover of The Last Coon Hunter. To date, I have several firm entries, and several more oh-that's-neat-maybe-I-will-submit's.
Recall, you need only match four songs with selected chapters (not all chapters!) from The Last Coon Hunter. As it looks like I'm going to get the newsletter out later than usual (probably the first week of July versus the last few days of June), I'm extending the contest deadline to 21 June 21.
Also, I'll add that the first-place winner can choose to have the coffee mug from The Last Coon Hunter instead of the hard cover, and the runner-up will get a coffee mug, as well. (Image on mug shown above, with the words "In her weakness, she conquered" on the back.)
Publication update: I'm still garnering wonderful feedback from my beta readers for The Forest Ghost. I'm on the revision of Chapter 30 (of 38) as I write and on track to deliver the manuscript to my copy editor, Ms. Joyce Mochrie, on July 15th. I'm also working on the cover and illustrations: still a lot more photos to take--never a dull moment.
I hope this quick note finds you well.
