Dave MUffley: Northern pennsylvania's warrior-poet
Editorial: I refer to my fellow vet, Dave Muffley, as our local “warrior-poet spiritualist”—and he’s all that and more. He’s just published his first book of poetry and commentary, Admonitions of Ares, starting with his time in Vietnam as a special escort taking non-combatants into the jungles, and his post-war years.

“I did not consciously decide to write my book. Rather, I felt compelled by the impact of my own experience. From before the time of Homer, poets have been warning us about the absurdity and futility of war. Nevertheless, it is evident that the message has still not been overstated. It became my task to tell it yet again from the perspective of a combat veteran in a unique assignment that exposed me to a wide angle view of the conflict that was Vietnam.”
