![]() Hi folks, I was informed today that An Exceptional Hound (AEH), the audiobook, won First Place in the New York State Outdoor Writers Association 2024 Excellence in Craft Awards in the TV, Radio, Video, and Audio category. I'm awed and humbled. First, I'd like to thank the incredible voice acting talent of Wayne Thompson. This is the second audiobook project that I've collaborated with Wayne, who is simply a joy to work with. I recall one correspondence where we were discussing how to say a specific line in AEH when Wayne informed me, "I am Nathan Ernst." And well, I believed him. I think it's fair to say the proof is in the pudding. I thank my family for their support of my writing career. A heartfelt thanks to the reader-fans of the Ryland Creek saga for their constant encouragement and sharing their personal takes on the stories. Wouldn't be where I'm at today without each and every one of you. God bless you all. Most importantly, I thank God for all things. Today, I'm especially thankful for the time I had with the real Seth--named after the character Seth--who in all the important ways became his namesake--a truly exceptional hound. Without equivocation, the many nights I followed Seth into these swamps and hollows, I can say that I've walked the forest dark in the company of a king. I do miss Seth, although I see him every day in his pups. And I thank the Almighty for the forests and tall hills of Painted Post. You may not be able to touch the face of God from here, but if you try, you can reach his hand. Very Respectfully, Joseph Gary Crance
