Moved the game cam to a new location a few days ago. It's a good location for right behind the camera, two trails join and (if the animal is headed north) the chance for traffic is pretty high if the stories in the snow were any indication. Then I caught this. At first, I couldn't understand why this coyote had just stopped. There's nothing to hold him/her there, so why tarry? Did he catch a wind of my or Blaze's scent from ~48 hours before? Never underestimate a canine's sense of smell. I've seen a coonhound get sprayed with a skunk and 20 minutes later tree a raccoon, when in my mind I'm wondering how that dog could smell anything but the skunk! Did he sense the camera's night (infrared, I think) light? Supposedly, this game camera won't scare an animal, and to date, that's been the case. So why stop? The answer came right at the end of the video . . .
